Information Technology Policy

Shri Shankarlal Sundarbai Shasun Jain College (hereinafter referred to as “College”) recognizes the key role that information technology (IT) plays in teaching, research and communication and promotes reasonable, responsible and lawful use of IT Resources. The College acknowledges the importance of mobile technologies in improving communication and productivity and permits the use of personally owned notebooks, smart phones, tablets to access the College’s IT Resources.

All use of the College’s IT Resources, including but not limited to accessing internet, social media and instant messaging services, shall comply to College’s policies, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to Information Technology Act 2008. The College’s IT Resources shall not be used for any personal, commercial or non-academic purpose.

Users shall be responsible to ensure information security in access and use of the College’s IT Infrastructure. All software (including licensed, open source or freeware software) use shall be in strict compliance to the respective licensing terms and conditions. No Software shall be installed or loaded on the College’s IT Infrastructure, without explicit written permission of the Principal.

The College respects the privacy of users of the College’s IT Resources in accordance with College’s policies and relevant legislation, to the extent permitted by law the College reserves the right to monitor, log and report the use of College’s IT Resources by any user.

The College reserves the right in its sole discretion to withdraw, suspend, modify or deny access to any IT Resources without assigning any reason. Any misuse or violation of IT Resources made available by the College may result in the College initiating disciplinary action which may include suspension or dismissal.

The College makes the IT Resources available on an as-is-where-is basis without any warranties on suitability for any purpose. Users agree and acknowledge that the College shall not be liable for any damages related to, in connection with, or otherwise resulting from use of the College’s IT Resource, whether or not the College is advised of the possibility of such damages.

The College bears no responsibility whatsoever for any legal action threatened or started due to conduct and activities of users in accessing or using College’s IT Resources. All users indemnify the College against any and all damages, costs and expenses suffered by the College arising out of any unlawful or improper conduct and activity, and in respect of any action, settlement or compromise, or any statutory infringement. Legal prosecution following a breach of these conditions may result independently from any action by the College.
